We like it when people mess around with traditional pieces. When we say mess around we mean tweak because it seems like too often people try to reinvent the wheel with what’s classic. I finally finished the scarf I for my boyfriend’s mother. I’ve been working on this for a long time. The pattern is Misty Garden by Jo Sharp from Scarf Style. I used two strands of Kid Silk Haze held together. One a solid colour the other, Kid Silk Spray, is slightly variegated. Therefore the scarf has subtle colour differences. It turned out real nice. She’s blocking now and I hope she’s dry by tomorrow so I can gift her.
Lola was slightly disturbed by the wet mohair scarf and was not willing to pose with it properly (probably because it wasn’t for her)

Talking about Fashion and Music (which is what innit magazine is all about), we now have another collaboration between a huge fashion label with a renowed music producer Mark Ronson. Mark Ronson who hails from the UK has produced for many great artists and is mainly known for the success of the quirky and eccentric Amy Winehouse.

Like Kanye West for coach shoes, Gucci is doing the similar with Mark Ronson and would be known as Gucci Ronson. This collection will be in line with Gucci’s introduction of the flash sneaker stores which will be launched pretty soon around the world. The 2 line ups seen here for the Gucci Ronson shoes features bright colours in blue and white combination with a hint of yellow.

Ronson has been a fan of Gucci Shoes for a long time and can be seen at most of Gucci’s fashion shows, hence it is timely that they collaborated.

Finally. I had the chance to pull that tsumugi silk off the shelf and weave something from it. The DH’s birthday was on Friday and I wove a silk scarf for him… not prissy, not fussy. This silk is raw and slubby… a little rough and weathered. I guess, like him.

The scarf is woven from four different colours (charcoal, dark navy, oatmeal, espresso) in a stripe pattern. I just randomly designed this on the warping board, sometimes running two colours together at the same time to create a more blended effect. A simple two-yard warp x approximately 200 ends, set at 20 epi and woven in a 2×2 twill pattern.

Now that the silk scarf is off the loom, I’ve put on my most favourite warp… the cotton warp dyed in procion. This, I’m looking forward to seeing.
